Description
Approx. 1,900 – 2,900 seeds per lb Heirloom 1902 80 Days, 5’ Stalk, 8 Rows • 5” ear height • Bred during the 1890’s by William Chambers to be small and fit neatly into a sidedish at the roadside inns where he sold his specialty corn • Introduced in 1902 by W. Altee Burpee GB- 8-Row skyrocketed yellow “sugar” corn onto the American table • Before GB-8-Row, yellow corn was considered fit only to be fed to the livestock and white corn was for the table • Bantam was a sweet, juicy little package of delectability though, that produced two ears for your table on each neat compact 5’ stalk • It was easy to grow, looked tidy in your garden and graced your table with tasty goodness • Golden Bantam remained the most popular sweet corn for the next three decades until the release of Golden Cross Bantam Hybrid in 1934
