This lightweight vermiculite provides superb aeration and moisture retention when mixed in with peat, bark, or compost. Also makes excellent fertilizer. Vermiculite soil supports root structure and stimulates fast root growth. Can be used by itself to aid soil-less hydroponic greenhouses.- Vermiculite is a highly refined mineral derived from ore that has been heated between 1,300° and 1,400° rendering it essentially sterile
- Heating causes the ore to expand into accordion like particles which can hold large amounts of plant available air, water and nutrients with good buffering capabilities
- Useful for seed germination or combined with other materials as a growing medium
- pH range: 6.0 to 8.0; Water retention: 52.4% by weight; Dry bulk density: 5.0 to 9.0 per cu ft
