Areca™

Fungicide

Areca is a systemic fungicide that may be applied to a wide range of ornamental flowering and foliage plants as a foliar spray, drench or dip for control of diseases caused by Pythium, Phytophthora, and Downy Mildew pathogens. Areca can also be used for suppression of bacterial blight caused by certain pathovars of Xanthomonas campestris. Areca may be used on ornamentals and bedding plants grown in field nursery, greenhouse, landscape and conifer nurseries.

Labeled for use on: Ornamentals and bedding plants grown in field nursery, greenhouse, and conifer nursery situations. (Not labeled on conifer nurseries in California.)
Diseases controlled: Pythium, Phytophthora and Downy Mildew. Also suppression of bacterial blight.
Application: Spray, drench or dip
Notes: Applications should be made prior to disease development and should be made in conjunction with good cultural management practices. Use the higher rate when disease pressure is severe. Areca may be used through irrigation systems including microjet, drip, solid set, and center pivot systems

Rates

Foliar spray: (to plants such as azalea, bougainvillea, boxwood, dieffenbachia, hibiscus, juniper, pothos, rhododendron, spathiphyllum, and taxus): Mix 2.5 to 5.0 lbs. of Areca per 100 gal. water and spray a maximum of 400 gal./acre. Applications may be made every 30 days.

Foliar application to bedding plants: (for application to plants such as begonia, pansy, vinca, marigold, zinnia, petunia, geranium, and impatiens): Mix 1.25 to 4.0 lbs. of Areca with 100 gal. water and spray a maximum of 400 gal./acre. Applications may be made every 14 days.

Foliar application to roses: (for control of downy mildew): Mix 1.25 to 4.0 lbs. of Areca with 100 gal. water and spray a maximum of 400 gal./acre. Applications may be made every 14 days.

Foliar application on conifers: On conifers such as Douglas firs, spruce, and pines, mix 2.5 to 5.0 lbs. of Areca in 100 gal. water and spray a maximum of 400 gal./acre. Applications may be made every 7 days. (Not registered for use in California)

Bacterial Blight Suppression: (for foliar applications to plants such as English ivy, anthurium, dieffenbachia, spathiphyllum, and ficus): Mix 2 to 4 lbs. of Areca with 100 gal. water and spray a maximum of 400 gal./ acre. Applications may be made every 7 days. For best results, applications should be made in conjunction with a disease sanitation program to reduce the spread of the disease in infected plants. (Not registered for use in California)

Fire Blight Suppression: (for foliar applications to ornamental pear, pyracantha, and hawthorn): Mix 2.5 lbs. of Areca with 100 gal. water and spray a maximum of 400 gal./acre.
