Inside Sales Representative - Topeka, KS

Job Description
The Inside Sales Representative is responsible for selling Hummert products or services through the achievement of opportunity-based sales quotas. The Inside Sales Representative will reach business targets through excellent telephone sales and communications skills. There will be some emphasis on emerging markets and their related channels and the successful candidate must be able to adapt to changing environments in the competitive marketplace. Being a partner and advocate to those in the greenhouse and nursery industries will be critical. This individual will also develop their phone-based revenue generation through the creation of sales leads, initiation of prospect calls, and establishment of ongoing rapport with existing and prospective customers. Integrity, vision, drive and passion are required for this role and as with all positions within a small company, job descriptions may be revised as the company expands. The candidate will be partnered with the dedicated Kansas field sales representative and will work as a team to achieve revenue and gross margin objectives.
Job Duties
  • Make contact with prospects daily which generate new business and grow existing business by way of internal and external lead generation
  • Cultivate and expand this database of prospects, keeping the pool fresh and active, and addressing objections disclosed during the conducting of your sales activities
  • Identify decision makers among targeted leads to begin the sales process and build relationships
  • Make frequent contact with existing and prospective customers by phone and e-mail to capitalize on the various cross-selling and up-selling opportunities available
  • Execute pre-booking and program sales during key times of year for current and new business
  • Create and deliver qualified opportunities to Territory Managers and National Sales Manager which have multi-regional and national significance
  • Collaborate with National Sales Manager and Territory Managers to determine necessary strategic sales approaches
  • Emphasize product/service features and benefits, quote prices, discuss credit terms, and prepare sales order forms and/or reports
  • Enter new customer data and update changes to existing accounts in the corporate database
  • Accept, investigate and troubleshoot customer service issues
  • Develop and deliver sales presentations, product/service demonstrations, and other sales actions
  • Assist in creating RFQ and RFP responses to potential customers specifically within territory
  • Where necessary, support marketing efforts such as trade shows, exhibits, and other events
  • Attend periodic sales training and coordinate customer training as necessary
  • Appropriately communicate brand identity and corporate position
  • Organize work station that presents itself in a professional manner
Requirements
  • University or college degree in Horticulture, Marketing, Business or an acceptable combination of education and experience. 2 to 3 years of direct work experience in horticulture sales preferred. Those with telesales in other industries will be considered.
  • Demonstrated ability to convert prospects and close deals while maintaining established sales quotas
  • Solid experience in opportunity qualification, pre-call planning, call control, account development, and time management
  • Success in qualifying opportunities involving multiple key decision makers
  • Strong knowledge of distribution, retail, and/or wholesale sales principles, methods, practices, and techniques
  • Strong problem identification and objection resolution skills
  • Ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with customers
  • Excellent speaking, writing and listening skills to diverse audiences and various customer levels
  • Self-motivated and entrepreneurial with high energy and an engaging level of enthusiasm
  • Ability to perform basic calculations and mathematical figures
  • Ability to occasionally travel and attend sales events or exhibits
  • Ability to work independently as well as be an integral part of a powerful team
  • High level of integrity and work ethic
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products and willing to learn customer relationship management software

Customer Service Representative - Earth City, MO

Job Description
Our company is seeking a full time, permanent customer service representative to join our team! We are a fast paced, team based horticultural distributor that prides ourselves on excellent customer service.

Primary responsibilities are:
  • Face to face and phone customer service
  • Answer inbound customer service calls regarding order status/issues
  • Trouble shooting & problem solving
  • Track orders
  • Process freight claims – LTL & UPS
  • Produce credit memos
  • Issue return authorizations and adhere to company return policies
  • Work with vendors and our purchasing department on returns, manufacturer’s defects, etc
  • Provide back up to the sales team
  • The ideal candidate has outstanding phone skills and the ability to work as part of team. Must be familiar with Microsoft Office and Internet. Working hours will be Monday - Friday 8:30am until 5:00pm. Full comprehensive benefit package available.
