The Soil-Dwelling Mites listed here consume thrip pupae in the soil or media. In other words, the Stratiolaelaps Mites work well in concert with the other thrip controls listed. As an added bonus — the mites also consume fungus gnat larvae, springtails and other soil pests.
A predatory mite best used for preventing and controlling low to moderate numbers of several thrip species. Suppress white flies; with some impact to spider mites, possibly including broad mites and other tarsonemid mites. Shipped as adults. Can also be used in hotter conditions provided a fairly high relative humidity is maintained on the leaf surface.
The Insidiosus Flower Bug, consuming both thrips’ larvae and adults, is considered one of the big guns. One important fact, though: these true bugs are photosensitive and need long days to work (March–October) unless supplemental lighting is provided.
