Grass Seed

Anyone can buy a bag of grass seed but very few can understand all the information needed to grow the grass or maintain the grass after planting.
Most folks have the idea that all grass seed is basically the same… big mistake!

Choosing quality seed is one of the most important steps in any successful planting or over seeding. Check our Hummert labels-they are among the best!

We don’t mess around with poor quality grass seed

Hummert International prides itself for being on the “cutting edge” (pardon the pun) of grass seed technology. We talk to our sources, read the publications, listen to our customer’s comments and plant the grass in our own backyard!

Educate yourself! What you seed is what you get!

Be careful; always purchase the cleanest seed (the one with the highest purity) you can find. Less “pure seed” means more problems-weeds, etc. Lower germination means more money spent for less “actual” grass seed.

Calibration: To calibrate a spreader, mark off an area of 1,000 sq. ft. (25’x 40’). Assuming a spread of 8 feet, mark off 3 evenly spaced lanes running along the 40 ft. dimension. Weigh out 20 lbs. of fertilizer, place in hopper and make application to test area using the setting given on the chart for the analysis being applied. Weigh remaining fertilizer to determine the actual qty spread. Adjust meter setting as necessary to spread the number of pounds of fertilizer that will deliver 1 lb. N per 1,000 sq. ft.

Operation: Single Pass: Spread across short ends first, then on long dimension, as in diagram. Crisscross: Use lower setting. Apply in 2 directions as shown.
